Claire Ahriana, creator of Cooking as Medicine, was inspired by entrepreneurs, trend-setters, new business concepts, and chefs, early on and throughout her career.  She earned a degree in psychology, enjoyed a successful vocation in the food software industry, and founded Allotta Creations (an R&D facility in the San Francisco Bay Area), for the development of new food products. She later expanded her interests in natural health and cooking by attending the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM., where she became certified in Ayurveda, an ancient holistic medical and nutritional system originating from India with a focus on digestion and staying in balance. Claire completed her studies in the US and India with world renowned Dr. Vasant Lad. Inspired by Ayurveda, her teacher, and a passion for helping others, she created a business model designed to educate individual digestive awareness by using an age-old wisdom to fit modern-day society, and its current health and dietary challenges.

It was one quote from Ayurveda, "a good doctor must first, be a good cook," and a personal nudge from her teacher (to be a healer) that inspired Claire to combine her diverse knowledge of business, food, and health services. She now offers a creative fun-filled education through workshops and webinars, a webzine, and her forth-coming book, "Cooking as Medicine" (cooking, psychology, and healing). Claire teaches Ayurveda at the Alpha Academy of Healing Arts & Sciences, and offers Ayurvedic services combined with modern-day asthetics.
